Closed-Loop Feedback
A PLM process pattern in which operational field data — sensor readings, failure events, service actions — automatically triggers engineering review or change processes, feeding real-world performance back into the design record.
Why it matters
Open-loop design (design once, ship, never hear from customer) leads to repeated failures. Closed-loop design (integrate field learning into next iteration) leads to continuously improving products. AI makes closed-loop practical by automating the data collection and analysis.
