Engineering BOM (eBOM)
The engineering BOM is the structured list of every part, sub-assembly, and raw material in a product as designed by engineering. It reflects the design intent and is managed by PLM. The eBOM includes all parts required to build the product correctly but does not include consumables (gaskets, thread locker, lubricant) or tooling.
Why it matters
The eBOM is the source of truth for what the product is made of. When engineering changes the design, the eBOM is updated. When manufacturing wants to know what to build, they reference (or translate from) the eBOM.
