Manufacturing BOM (mBOM)
The manufacturing BOM is the structured list of every material, part, and consumable required to manufacture a product. It is managed by ERP or MES, reflects the build sequence, and includes consumables and tooling the eBOM does not track. The mBOM is derived from the eBOM.
Why it matters
The mBOM is the source of truth for manufacturing operations. It drives procurement (what to buy), work instructions (how to assemble), and costing (what manufacturing costs). If the mBOM is wrong, manufacturing costs, quality, and delivery all suffer.
