Simulation-Based Engineering
An engineering methodology in which physics-based simulation (finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, multibody dynamics) is used as a primary design and validation tool, reducing dependence on physical prototyping.
Why it matters
Simulation-based engineering is the foundation of engineering digital twins — the simulation model and its validated results are the assets that must be managed in PLM and connected to operational data to create a living twin.
