3DEXPERIENCE Platform
The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is Dassault Systèmes' unified cloud and on-premises environment that connects all DS applications — CATIA, ENOVIA, SIMULIA, DELMIA, SOLIDWORKS, NETVIBES — under a single data model and collaborative workspace. Launched as V6 architecture in 2012 and rebranded as 3DEXPERIENCE in 2013, it replaces the previous siloed V5 desktop tools with a role-based, browser-accessible PLM environment where product data, simulations, and manufacturing processes share a common backbone.
Why it matters
3DEXPERIENCE is the canonical example of a vendor consolidating CAD, PLM, simulation, and manufacturing into a single platform — it's the strongest implementation of platform-centric PLM in the market. Whether competitors' federation strategies (Aras, PTC) or its own thread-centric ambitions are the right answer for a given enterprise depends on data sovereignty, deployment topology, and how much of the product lifecycle the buyer wants from a single vendor.
