CAD Management
CAD Management encompasses the policies, processes, and software tools used to organize, version, secure, and share Computer-Aided Design (CAD) files within an engineering organization. It includes file naming conventions, revision control, library part management, and CAD tool administration.
Why it matters
Without formal CAD management, engineering teams experience lost revisions, overwritten geometry, inconsistent part libraries, and assembly errors caused by mismatched CAD versions. CAD management is the practical prerequisite for any downstream PDM or PLM investment.
