Data Governance

The discipline of managing data quality, metadata, access, and lineage. In PLM, data governance means ensuring CAD files have consistent naming, relationships are documented, versions are clear, and historical data is queryable.

Why it matters

Broken data governance means AI inference and traceability fail. You can't trace a requirement if the CAD file that implements it has a wrong name, wrong revision, or wrong relationship. Data governance is the foundation of digital thread.
