Data Governance
Data governance is the organizational and technical practice of defining who owns data, who can read it, who can change it, and how changes are audited. In a digital thread context, governance ensures data at each seam (PLM-to-MES, MES-to-ERP) remains synchronized and trustworthy.
Why it matters
Broken data governance means AI inference and traceability fail. You can't trace a requirement if the CAD file that implements it has a wrong name, wrong revision, or wrong relationship. Data governance is the foundation of digital thread.
