Tecnomatix
Tecnomatix is the Siemens digital manufacturing portfolio, covering manufacturing process planning, plant simulation, robotics programming, and quality management. UGS acquired Tecnomatix in 2004 and integrated it with Teamcenter so manufacturing engineers could plan, validate, and simulate production processes against the same product data their design counterparts work from. Today Tecnomatix is a core pillar of the Siemens Xcelerator industrial software portfolio.
Why it matters
Tecnomatix is the bridge between the engineering BOM and the manufacturing BOM at Siemens. Without it, Teamcenter would manage the design and hand the manufacturing world a translation problem; with it, the as-planned process is grounded in the same configuration Teamcenter governs, and changes flow both directions. That bidirectional loop is what makes "digital manufacturing" a feature of Siemens' PLM stack rather than a separate product silo.
